Shifrah Nansubuga’s story

At just 10 years old, Shifrah is a young girl caught between two worlds. Her father does not believe in the value of education, and her mother returned to her home country of Kenya years ago, leaving Shifrah behind. In a beautiful twist of fate, the only person acting as her guardian is her uncle—who is himself a student at Emmaus Schools. Together, they are chasing a dream that the rest of their family does not yet understand. Shifrah needs a sponsor to help her stay in school alongside her uncle, ensuring that this new generation is the one to finally value and achieve the gift of an education.
