Jovia Nakimbugwe’s story

ovia Nakimbugwe is a compassionate, dedicated, and resilient 13-year-old student currently in Primary Six. Growing up as the fifth-born in a large family of two brothers and six sisters, Jovia lives in a modest home shared with her mother and grandmother.

Her mother works tirelessly as a peasant farmer, cultivating small plots of land to keep the family afloat. However, relying solely on subsistence agriculture makes providing for eight children an overwhelming struggle. The household faces continuous hardships, including severe shortages of daily food and a constant, agonizing struggle to raise funds for school fees and basic scholastic supplies. Despite the uncertainty surrounding her education and the physical strain of chronic poverty, Jovia maintains a gentle, caring nature and a strong commitment to her lessons. Driven by a deep empathy for others, she aspires to become a nurse so she can care for the sick, comfort hurting families, and bring medical aid to her rural community.

Sponsorship will guarantee Jovia’s tuition, provide necessary nutritional support and learning supplies, and relieve her mother and grandmother of a crushing economic burden -- giving Jovia the security and peace of mind needed to achieve her nursing dream.
