Latifah Nansubuga’s story

Latifah is a resilient, deeply caring, and determined 15-year-old student currently in Primary Six. Growing up as the third-born in a large family of three brothers and four sisters, Latifah’s young life has been marked by significant domestic upheaval and hardship.

In 2023, a severe family dispute led to the separation of her parents. Cut off from her mother's care and presence, Latifah deeply misses her mother's love and nurture. Following the separation, she was placed under the care of her grandmother, while currently residing with her step-mother in a complex household dynamic. Beyond the emotional burden of broken family ties, Latifah endures severe physical hardship, including an acute shortage of daily food and a lack of basic scholastic requirements -- such as exercise books, pens, and school uniforms.

Despite the heartache and continuous financial strain, Latifah remains steadfastly focused on her schooling. Witnessing hardship and physical suffering around her has inspired a noble, compassionate vision: Latifah wants to become a doctor after her studies so she can heal the sick, comfort hurting families, and give back to her community.
