Meet Sylvia Asinde

Sylvia Asinde is a deeply compassionate, resilient, and dedicated 15-year-old student currently in Primary Six. Growing up as the fifth-born in a large family of three brothers and four sisters, Sylvia lives with her biological parents, where the family is navigating an exceptionally difficult season.

Her family was struck by profound grief when her brother passed away in 2011 -- a loss that deeply affected Sylvia and left a lasting mark on her heart. Financial hardship has since intensified, as her father was recently forced to stop working due to a severe hernia in his groin area. With her father unable to earn an income, paying tuition and purchasing basic learning supplies has become a near-impossible challenge. To make matters worse, Sylvia endures a long, grueling walk to and from school each day.

Despite the physical exhaustion and the emotional weight of grief and family hardship, Sylvia's heart remains filled with empathy. Experiencing her father's health struggles and the loss of her brother has inspired her with a clear, selfless ambition: she wants to become a nurse so she can care for the sick, comfort grieving families, and save lives in her community.
