Shakirah Nakyongo’s story
Nakyongo Shakirah is an 11-year-old pupil attending Omuto Emmaus Nursery and Primary School in Lugazi Municipality, Buikwe District. Living in the village of Kizigo, Shakirah faces a daily physical challenge, walking 2 to 3 kilometers on foot to and from school, which sometimes causes her to arrive late during bad weather.
Raised by her father alone in a family of eleven members who rely on peasant farming, Shakirah experiences significant financial strain, school fees challenges, and difficulties securing daily meals. Despite these heavy burdens, she enjoys reading story books and maintains a strong ambition to become a teacher. Sponsorship will provide Shakirah with essential learning supplies, food security, and educational stability.
