Jalia Nanteza’s story
Nanteza Jalia is a bright and appreciative 15-year-old student living in Kikube Village. Driven by a desire to heal others and improve healthcare in her community, Jalia holds a strong dream of becoming a medical doctor after completing her studies.
Raised by her grandmother, Nalumu Hadijjah, Jalia has grown up in a loving but financially strained home. Jalia has no contact with her father, leaving her grandmother as her sole provider. Her grandmother works tirelessly as a small-scale farmer to cover living costs and school tuition, but agricultural earnings are low and unpredictable. As a result, the family faces persistent shortages of basic household needs and school fees. Jalia is deeply grateful for her grandmother's sacrifices, but sponsorship will ensure she can stay continuously in school and achieve her dream of becoming a doctor.
