Salimah Nakafeero’s story

Hello! My name is Nakafeero Salimah. I am 18 years old and currently in my Senior 4 candidate year at Omuto Emmaus High School. I live in Kizigo Village, and whenever I have free time, I love playing netball with my classmates. My ultimate goal in life is to become a professional doctor so that I can rescue people’s lives when they are sick and give back to my community.

My educational journey has required a lot of resilience. From infancy through Primary 4, I was raised by my step-grandmother, who sold sugarcane and vegetables to keep me in school. In Primary 5, I moved to live with my maternal grandmother alongside my sisters and aunts. At that time, my grandmother supported six of us by trading coffee. However, after severe drought damaged the coffee business, her trade collapsed.

Now, my grandmother tries her best to support the three of us who are still in school through small contributions from her older children. Because advanced medical studies require significant financial investment, my family cannot afford the costs on their own. Receiving sponsorship would relieve this burden and allow me to reach my target of becoming a doctor. Thank you for considering my story!
