Meet Angella Sanyu

Hello, my name is Ssanyu Agella! I am 14 years old and a Primary 5 pupil at Omuto Emmaus Primary School. Science is my favorite subject because I want to understand how the body works, though I work extra hard to tackle Mathematics, which is my most challenging subject. My ultimate dream is to grow up to become a medical doctor.

At home, I live with my grandmother and five siblings. Our grandmother is a peasant farmer and tries her best to care for all six of us. Because our family is financially constrained, my siblings and I sometimes have to miss school days to do manual labor in other people's gardens. We do this to help our grandmother raise money for school fees and save a little bit to buy clothes for the younger children.

Another big challenge I face is the long journey to school. I walk over 14 kilometers to and from school every day, which is very exhausting and sometimes causes me to arrive late after the first lesson has already started.

I worry about my future, but receiving sponsorship would change my life. It would ensure I don't have to miss school for garden labor and give me the opportunity to stay focused on achieving my dream of becoming a doctor. Thank you so much!
