Meet Lydia Nakyanzi

Nakyanzi Lydia is a remarkably resilient 16-year-old Senior 3 student at Omuto Emmaus High School. Following her father's passing, Lydia was raised by her 65-year-old mother, who works tirelessly in farming to support her children. Driven by an unwavering work ethic, Lydia excels in languages, loves reading, and participates enthusiastically in music, dance, and drama—all with the goal of becoming a journalist.

Lydia’s daily commitment to her education is extraordinary. Every day, she walks two and a half hours each way between home and school. After her long commute, she helps her mother harvest and transport tomatoes to local markets to raise school fees for herself and her three sisters in Senior 4. Despite severe fatigue, physical hardship, and market uncertainties, Lydia remains unfazed by the distance, determined to use education to lift her family "from zero to hero." Sponsorship will provide Lydia with the stability she needs to complete her studies and achieve her career in journalism.
